Technology Solutions for Construction
Presented by: Trimble
This co-located session will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn how technology can change the way heavy and highway construction work is performed. Topics will include how positioning solutions – GPS, CLONASS, Total Station and Laser – combined with powerful application software can improve the productivity of the earthmoving process, ensure accuracy, save material and reduce rework. For additional information, contact conexpoasiainfo@trimble.com

9:00 – 10:15
Key note opening - The Changing Landscape of Construction and the ROI of Adopting Technology for Construction Earthmoving
This session will provide an executive level review of the construction industry with a focus on the adoption technology for the different phases of earthmoving. It will demonstrate how the contractor can experience greater production, improved material yields, incremental cost reductions, and greater quality of work through the use of positioning technologies for earthmoving.
Presenters: Quang Tan – Trimble Construction Regional Sales Manager for China, Catherine Mansfield – Construction Division Marketing Communications Manager
10:30 – 11:45
Room A – Trimble Grade Control Systems Portfolio Overview and Application
This session provides an overview of the Trimble Grade Control System product portfolio. The portfolio includes a broad range of options and configurations for dozers, graders, excavators, scrapers and compactors. Key differences between the solution offerings are covered along with ideal applications for each system—laser, sonic, GPS+GLONASS or total station. Finally, we will discuss the benefits of grade control as they relate to material management and savings, accuracy, and operator efficiency on the construction site.
Presenter: CH Mak – Trimble Construction Sales and Support Manager for China and Asia
Room B – Positioning Technology for Construction Applications
The session provides an overview of the different positioning technologies used today in construction—including lasers, sonics, GPS+GLONASS and total stations. It reviews the actual, achievable accuracies when doing real-time grade control and site positioning work on the construction job site. It will additionally cover the current satellite positioning augmentation services available to receive correction data so you don't have to set up your local base station anymore, as well as present relevant applications.
Presenter: Bill Zhang – Trimble Construction Sales Manager for Heavy and Highway for China
13:00 – 14:15
Room A – Entry Level Grade Control Products for Site Preparation: Selecting the right Technology for the Application
This session is an introduction to the entry level Trimble machine guidance solutions for site preparation, focusing on when and how to use them. It will provide an overview of when to use sonics and lasers and will cover the differences and practical application of: slope, no slope and level-only lasers; elevation display systems for underground and pad leveling; and automatic blade control systems for finish grading.
Presenter: Jacky Li – Trimble Construction In field support for China and Asia
Room B – Quantm: The Evolution of Infrastructure Planning – A Users Perspective
This session will provide an overview of a unique road and rail alignment optimization technology – Quantm system and its worldwide application. The Quantm system is an advanced planning tool that addresses the shortcomings of the conventional approach, by allowing transportation planners to integrate environmental, community, engineering and cost factors into a single analysis, to identify optimal corridors and alignments more quickly and efficiently. The presentation will also cover two practical case studies in China.
Presenter: Dr Kevin Gu – Director of Quantm Qingzheng Technology Limited (A Trimble Company), China
14:30 – 15:45
Room A – Trimble Compaction Control Systems
This session will provide an overview of the Trimble CCS900 Compaction Control System, the first satellite-based positioning solution to offer contractors the ability to compact surface material to a target density and check finished grade accuracy in the same process. Compaction is critical to the earthworks process. Earthworks projects require that sub-surface material is compacted to a target density in order to achieve an increased durability, stability, and load-bearing capacity. This session will review how the Trimble CCS900 allows contractors to provide the detailed documentation required to prove that project specifications of target compaction levels have been met.
Presenter: Arthur Taylor – Construction Segment Manager for 3D Grade Control Systems
Room B – Know more about cost benefits of adopting Trimble Machine Control
This session focuses on the three major contractor benefits of Trimble grade control: better job quality, higher productivity and cost savings. It will review the productivity and operating cost analysis of a construction machine along with the cost benefits of adopting grade control. It will explain the methodology used to estimate productivity and cost benefits step by step with examples on most common construction machines including bulldozers, motor graders and excavators.
Presenter: CH Mak – Trimble Construction Sales and Support Manager for China and Asia
2007 ENR Top Chinese Firms Seminars & Awards Ceremony
Presented by: McGraw-Hill Construction, Construction Times
ENR's established education programs come to CE Asia to provide attendees with the latest in partnership and growth techniques and cost containment. Events will culminate with a high-level executive networking function, the 4th Annual ENR Top Chinese Firms Awards Ceremony.
13:10 – 14:40
Panel Discussion I - Smart Strategies for Growth
Growing companies in the construction business have several options available to boost revenue and tap new markets. These include traditional acquisitions that lead to much larger market share and revenues, initial public offerings (IPOs) to boost capital, and joint-ventures, mergers and alliances to help them expand their reach. This panel of executives from top Chinese construction firms will discuss these primary strategies that are helping them break through to new levels of size and strength.
15:00 – 16:30
Panel Discussion II - Material Price Inflation: How to Avoid the Crunch
The world's ongoing building boom has fundamentally changed the dynamics and fluidity of commodity prices—quite evident in the rising cost of steel, copper, cement and other materials. How can everyone continue building at this rapid rate without getting squashed by ever-rising material prices? Our panel of experts will analyze the problem and look closely at what companies can do to mitigate their exposure of commodity pricing through better design, financial planning and procurement.
18:30 – 21:00
